The need for the implementation of professional journalistic standards in Macedonian journalism was especially noticeable during the crisis and ethnic conflict of that year. Since then, MIM has worked as a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, a centre for the professionalisation of the media, which facilitates a continued upgrading of journalists and media professionals in Macedonia.
